St. John boat charters are great, fun-filled activities for families visiting the Virgin Islands.

St. John, nestled in the heart of the U.S. Virgin Islands, is a picture-perfect Caribbean destination renowned for its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush tropical landscapes. While it may be known as a romantic getaway, St. John also offers an array of exciting activities and adventures suitable for families with children. In this blog post, we'll explore some fantastic activities that will keep your kids entertained and create unforgettable memories on this stunning island.

Beach Time, Snorkeling and Paddle Boarding

St. John boasts some of the most breathtaking beaches in the Caribbean, and spending a day on the sandy shores is an absolute must. Pack up some sunscreen, beach toys, and a picnic, and head to Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay or Maho Bay. These family-friendly beaches offer full amenities (restrooms, food options, gear rental, etc) making them the perfect place for little ones to paddle around, build sandcastles, and explore the vibrant underwater world with snorkeling gear. Make Your Own Pirate Treasure Hunt

Arrr, matey! Let your kids' imaginations run wild as they embark on a pirate treasure hunt adventure. Design a treasure map with clues leading to hidden "booty" around the island. As you explore St. John's landmarks, your little pirates will have a blast deciphering clues, following the trail, and ultimately discovering the hidden treasure. It's a fantastic way to blend exploration, excitement, and creativity. Our friends over at Pirate’s Cove have kids pirate shirts, pirate books and other great souvenirs!

Farm Tours and Horseback Riding on St. John

Consider visiting the Carolina Corral, a small farm established in 1994 that provides support to animals in need on St. John. The farm has been a labor of love to owner, Dana Bartlett who single-handedly keeps the farm going and provides a home to horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs and chickens. Activites include shoreline horseback riding, helping with the morning feedings, private tours to get up close and personal with the animals, and the “Daily Donkey” sack races, obstacle course and pole bending. Feel good knowing that your participation helps to Dana to care for these animals.

Become a Junior Ranger for the Virgin Islands National Park

St. John is known for its untouched natural beauty, and embarking on a guided nature hike with your kids is an excellent way to discover the island's flora and fauna. Sign up for ranger guided hikes at the Virgin Islands National Park Visitor Center in Cruz Bay. Or grab a trail map and head out yourselves. Trails like the Francis Bay Loop or the Cinnamon Bay Loop offer gentle terrain and captivating scenery. Along the way, you’ll likely encounter tropical birds, iguanas, land crabs and old ruins. Don't forget to ask about the Junior Ranger program and how to get a badge before leaving St. John’s National Park Visitor Center.
